Record Player Table
FURNITURE DESIGN
With a 4-week deadline and no woodworking experience, this table taught me a great deal. Designed to house my vinyl collection and my record player, this table features an ambitious tambour door, many angled pieces, and provided me with many opportunities to grow my skills through mistakes and successes.
Process
Looking back on this process now with a bit more experience under my belt, there are many things I would do differently. For example, I would start with a more detailed plan and would test stability and functionality on a smaller scale. I’d also triple-check my physics. I learned the value of advance planning and operational considerations within design. Looking back on how I was able to accomplish this rather complicated piece with no prior experience, I am proud as I use it every day in my home. In the coming years, I would love to make this piece again with more experience and an improved design plan.
